Long ago, I earned my BS degree in Home Economics and Extension from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. I worked as an Extension Educator until my husband and I started a family. After being a "home mom" for several years, I worked as a paraeducator at Syracuse. During that time, I earned an elementary education endorsement from UNL.
My first elementary teaching position was at Elk Creek, Nebraska where I taught for five and one half years. My assignment was a combined classroom of 4th, 5th, and 6th graders plus P.E. for all grades (K-6). Toward the end of my time at Elk Creek, I taught computer class (K-6) instead of P.E.
I started at Bennet Elementary in August, 1998. This is my tenth year here. I have taught sixth grade the entire time.
When I am not at school, you might find me at my home east of Syracuse. I live there with my husband, Karl. We have two grown children. Both are married with one child each.
For relaxation, I enjoy sewing. Most of my projects are clothing articles though I have made some small quilts and crafty items. I also like to garden. Fresh vegetables from spring to fall make the work worthwhile. My flower gardens consist mostly of perennials with my obsession being irises. I have over 100 varieties growing around my home.
I am thankful every day for the wonders of nature, for my family and friends, and for the opportunity to work at Bennet Elementary School.
