Second Year at Palmyra/Bennet

by Tonya Papineau

I am starting my third year as Speech-Language Pathologist at Palmyra/Bennet schools.  I service speech and language students at the elementary, 4 days a week and the JH/HS, 1 day a week.  I grew up in Lexington, NE.  I attended Lexington Public Schools from Kindergarten until I graduated in 1990.  I started college at Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1990 and when I decided to change my major to Speech Pathology I transferred to the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 1992.  I completed my Bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders in 1995 and my Master's degree in Speech Pathology in 1997.  I have worked in speech therapy in both the medical and educational setting.  I have worked in hospitals and skilled nursing facilities in Des Moines, IA, Beatrice, NE and Lincoln, NE.  I taught at Lexington Public Schools from 1999 - 2001.  I have been taking classes in sign language and would like to in the next couple of years earn my second Master's in Deaf Education.  In my free time I like to spend time with my husband and children, scrapbooking and attending Nascar races.
