SOCS Keeps Information Moving

Together, we prepare our students to successfully meet the challenges of the future.

This MISSION was adopted by District OR1 in 1994 to ensure our students continually receive the best education possible. Today, we have a powerful communication tool created by a Lincoln-based company, ISPI, at our fingertips. The same Scholastic Online Communication Solution (SOCS) that has been used by corporations such as Cabellas and dozens of major universities will power District OR1's web-based communication needs. Along with our newly-implemented PowerSchool information management system, SOCS will allow the staff and administration to better communicate with students, parents, and community.

District OR1 joins 24 other Nebraska K-12 institutions in implementing SOCS. The following are testimonials from others within our consortium as well as those in higher education. Please take a look at what other's say about their experiences with SOCS, look around our site, and fill our the short straw poll on the right side of the page.

The Daily Texan Online (University of Texas at Austin) ...It's easy, but looks sophisticated. the Daily Texan has been around for a century and it's had a website for more than a decade. By using the same technology that is now offered to you with SOCS, we reach students, faculty, alumni, and our community in ways we never imagined a few years ago. The Daily Texan Online, thanks to the systems that run it, offers a website that surpasses a typical online newspaper. It's interactive. It's immediate, It helps us publicize events and breaking news easily, within moments, and there's something to interest everyone. Our site has become a true community asset. Plus, the site gives our students exposure to all of the latest technology they may use on a job later on, and helps the students perspective on important issues to reach for beyond the campus. Try to imagine all your school can do using SOCS. Then realize you can't imagine it all. - Kathy Lawrence Director Student Media The Daily Texan Online http://www.dailytexanonline.com

Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools (Ashland, NE) I use SOCS for our school. I recommend SOCS for your school. Why? Because communication, keeping our entire support community informed, is vital to the healthy operation of our schools. SOCS makes this a reality instead of just a slogan. The folks at ispi have created something for schools that is easy to use, but very sophisticated and powerful. That is the mark of great design. Something that is very useable, and helpful for the tasks I need to have done. I need to be able to have various staff and students update our online site, and do it in a timely fashion. SOCS provides this for us. I need to have an online calendar that keeps everyone informed of what is happening at the school and to communicate with them interactively when schedules change or send out reminders about school and student events. SOCS does this easily. I need to provide information so that the tax paying public will understand the myriad responsibilities that we fulfill everyday. SOCS gets this job done for us. And, I need a solution and a company that are committed to education and provide this wonderful service at a price that is geared to the education market and, in fact, -- is quite surprisingly, extremely affordable. SOCS, again. So, if you are a busy school administrator like I am; I recommend that you spend a few minutes to understand SOCS because it will help you do your job and do it in a way that is easy on you, your staff, and your budget. - Craig Pease Superintendent Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools http://news.agps.org/
