Superintendent of Schools

Rob Hanger:hanger.rob@districtor1.net

Welcome to the Palmyra District OR-1 School district web site and the 2011-2012 school year.  I am beginning my 26th year in Education having served as the Superintendent and K-12 Principal in Chambers from 2005-2010.  Prior to that time I spent 19 years at Sutton as a coach and Social Studies teacher.  The current school year will be exciting as we embark on a series of transitions such as the adoption of Measures of Academic Progress which will provide a more authentic assessment picture of our student’s progress with a correlation to Nebraska standards.  The district has also launched a character education initiative aimed at providing our students with specific information focusing on life skills including but not limited to self confidence/self respect, respect for others/compassion, responsibility/no excuses as well as communication skills, perseverance/resilience, positive attitude, resourcefulness and goal setting.  Finally, the Board of Education has begun the process of forging a strategic plan that will examine and prioritize the needs of District OR-1 students and stakeholders into the foreseeable future.  Best wishes for a productive and rewarding year.
