District OR-1 Schools Receive AdvanceEd/NCA Accreditation

Part of Integrated Review Process with NCA and State Department of Education

District OR-1 Schools recently hosted an external team visitation, made up of members from the North Central Accreditation Agency and the State Department of Education.  The visit is part of the accreditation process for schools in the state and nation.  During the two day visit, members of the team reviewed our current School Improvement Goals and Action Plans, looked at evidence assembled indicating  the implementation of those goals and plans, and reviewed reports and documentation relating District OR-1’s level of adherence to the AdvancedEd/NCA  Seven Quality Standards.

Margaret McInteer and Jackie Kelsey review notebook compiled at Data Retreat, containing important information on student performance on state standards and achievement tests.

Members of the team were very impressed with our school improvement efforts.  Team leader, Don Fritz, told members of the staff that he heard many compliments by other team members as they went through the process of looking over documents and during visits with members of the administration, staff and students, at both Palmyra and Bennet.  At the end of the visit, an announcement was made by Mr. Fritz, that we will be granted accreditation for a five year term!

In addition to the accreditation aspect of the visit, members from the State Department of Education also conducted reviews of our Special Education Program, and No Child Left Behind Federal Grant Programs.   Both programs were found to be in compliance with state and federal regulations and guidelines.

District OR-1 Schools is one of a small number of schools in the state that have received AdvancedED/NCA Accreditation at both the elementary and secondary levels for the entire school district.  Staff members, students and patrons can be quite proud of this recent accomplishment.
