Save the Earth, Plant a Tree

First Graders Receive Trees from the NRD

Earth Day and Arbor Day are always great reminders that we need to take care of our earth. In first grade students had an opportunity to learn about trees first hand from a representative from the NRD.

Students read books about trees and their benefits, wrote and drew examples of their favorite tree and examined wood samples provided by Doug and Carol Nisley. The culminating activity was a visit from Jane at the NRD. She talked with students about how to plant and care for a new seedling and then each student received a Southwestern White Pine tree from the NRD to take home and plant.
