Bennet Elementary Principal

Welcome!  The start of the 2009-2010 school year marks the beginning of my thirteenth year at Bennet Elementary School.  I enjoy my job and believe that I am part of one of the best small school districts in Nebraska.  I truly enjoy working with the students, staff and patrons of our communities.

Where I've Been
Before becoming an administrator here at Bennet Elementary, I served as the K-12 Principal at Humphrey Public School for a period of nine years.  Previous to that I was the K-12 Principal at Newcastle, Nebraska for the 1987-88 school year.  I started my career at Chambers Public School, where I served as Social Studies Teacher and 7-12 Principal.  I also coached football, basketball and track during my nine years at Chambers.

Education
I attended college at University of Nebraska at Kearney where I earned a BS in Education in 1978, with endorsements in History, Driver’s Education, and Coaching.    I earned my Masters Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 1983 and added my elementary endorsement in administration at Wayne State College during the summer of 1990.

My Family
I have two sons who are both married.  My oldest son, Mitch and his wife, Kelly reside in Millard, Nebraska with their children Macy and Ryan.   My youngest son, Joel and his wife, Christina, reside in Overland Park, Kansas.  Their first child, Landon, was born on December 15th, 2008.

What I Enjoy
Along with education, my passions and hobbies include reading novels and books on history and politics, cycling, swimming, hiking, travelling and of course, Big Red Football.

As many of you know I'm an avid bicyclist.  This past year I got a new Trek Madone road bike and made a vow to get back in cycling shape again.  To add incentive to this goal, along with some friendly encouragement from Mr. McChristian, I signed up for two major bike rides this past summer.  The two of us did Ride the Rockies in June and RAGBRAI in July.  You may check out our RTR adventures by clicking on the articles I posted on my web page on this site.  I am quite pleased to say that we completed each of these events and are still talking to each other AND still avid bicyclists!  I'm already planning some adventures for next summer!  Ever heard of the Rocky Mountain Triple Bypass Mr. Mac!
If you wish to contact me, please feel free to do so at your convenience.

Some of Mr. Robb's Favorite web sites:

Michael Totten's Middle East Journal  A blog on Mid Eastern events and politics.  Very interesting and concise articles from a journalist that is there, on the ground and among the people in that volatile part of the world.

HuskerPedia.com  Simply the best Husker web site out there.

Fat Cyclist   If you enjoy cycling, this is a great site!  Very entertaining generally, but the author gives you doses of real life issues, such at dealing with cancer.

Nebraska Department of Education  There is a great wealth of information at this site.  Spend some time here and get to know about education in the state of Nebraska.  I think you will be pleased.

Run GPS Community Server  This is a great site to keep track of your exercise training.  If you have a smart phone with a gps device on it you can upload your workouts directly to this site.  I use it for my bicycle training.
