A little bit about me!

by Lisa Dowding

September 07, 2009

Hello, my name is Lisa Dowding and I am the resource teacher for grades 3, 4, 5, and 6. It is hard to believe but this year will be my 5th year here at Bennet.   I grew up right outside of Bennet and attended Bennet Elementary from kindergarten through 6th grade and then went on to Palmyra.  I graduated from Palmyra High School in 2001.  After graduation, I attended Doane College in Crete, Nebraska and majored in Elementary Education and Special Education and graduated in May of 2005.  Then in May of 2007 I graduated with my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

Family is very important to me and a reason why I choose to come back to Bennet.  My parents live right outside of Bennet. I have a younger sister and brother. My brother attends Palmyra High School and is very active in football, basketball, and track. My sister teaches in Lincoln at at Meadowlane Elementary School.

I am married to a wonderful man, Nate Dowding, who is also a Palmyra graduate. This past April we had our first child, a daughter named Hailey.  We currently live in Lincoln but are hoping to move out to the Bennet area in the near future.

Besides teaching at the elementary I will also spend a good amount of time at the high school coaching the Varsity basketball team.  I am looking forward to a wonderful year full of lots of new experiences!

05/28/2008 Thank you so much for all you have done with Brent and Brad. You have helped Brent so much, He hasn't always been the most cooperative student. Thanks for taking the time to take them over to the high school so they will have an easier time transitioning to 7th grade. You will be missed.

09/10/2009 What a beautiful family! Welcome to your 5th year of teaching. Your mom and I were discussing you and agreeing that you are in the correct profession. It fits you perfectly. Thanks for being my son's teacher.
