Mr. Robb and Mr. McChristian do "Ride the Rockies."
Pair to Ride Bikes 380 miles in Colorado Rocky Mountains
What do two middle aged Bennet Elementary staffers do for summer fun and relaxation? If your Mr. Robb or Mr. McChristian, it has to have something to do with cycling. Both are pushing the fun and relaxation envelope this summer by taking part in "Ride the Rockies." RTR is a bicycle tour sponsored each summer by the Denver Post. The tour explorers a section of Colorado's beautiful Rocky Mountains. This year's ride will be a 380 mile loop starting and ending in Glenwood Springs, CO. Over six days, 2000 cyclists from across the country and around the world will be biking over three mountain passes, across vast plateaus, and through steep mountain canyons, with overnight stops in the following communities: Hotchkiss, Gunnison, Salida, Leadville, and Aspen.
The pair left Friday, June 12th for the start of the ride on Sunday June, 14th. Both riders have been logging lots of miles on their bikes this spring getting ready for the tour. Mr. Robb has put over 1500 miles on his new Trek Road bike since March, while Mr. McChristian has logged over 1000 miles on his Merlin and Bianchi cycles. The pair was often seen riding to work and home along highway 2 this spring, getting ready for the ride this summer.
Check back at this site for updates and pictures during the week as Mr. Robb will try and do an online journal of the the tour.
