The Morning Scarecrows

Little painted noses, ripped jeans, straw hats, bandana scarves and assorted other "scarecrow props" filled our classroom with lots of excitement this week.

Books like The Scarecrow and the Falling Leaves and The Scarecrow's Hat together with a scarecrow puppet and song filled our group circle time.  We also practiced matching the numbers one through ten on a patchwork scarecrow.  The students each told a teacher the number name and then glued a number patch on the matching number already printed on the scarecrow's body.

A noisy running game of "scarecrow and the crows"outside on the nice fall days this week gave everyone a chance to use important turn taking and game playing skills.
