Mr. Bottrell
Hi, I’m David Bottrell. I’m the 7-12 principal. I’m in my 10th year here at Palmyra, my 17th year as a principal, and my 23rd year in education. I jokingly tell people that I’ve been in school for 41 years of my life! I started college at Kearney State College. I transferred to Chadron State where I got my undergraduate degree in Business Education, Physical Education, and Coaching. I played basketball and ran track while in college.
I got my first job at Waterloo High School where I taught and coached for 6 years. My third year at Waterloo I assumed the role of A.D. and continued to coach junior high and high school football, basketball, and track. During that time I worked on my Master’s Degree at the University of Nebraska – Omaha so I could someday become a principal.
My first administrative position was at Fairmont, where I was the K-12 Principal. I worked there for 7 years. I continued to coach and was the A.D. at Fairmont too. I met my wife Abbie while at Fairmont. She is a R.N. with Bryan LGH West in Lincoln. Our daughter, Jordyn, is a student here at Palmyra Jr./Sr. High School. I spend my leisure time with my family and friends. And that time is generally spent doing anything that has to do with sports and cars!
I’m very proud of the students, teachers, and staff we have at Palmyra High School. As you explore our website you will see that we are doing great things here! I would welcome any opportunity to visit with you about anything PHS. Please contact me at dbottrel@esu6.org or botttrell.dav@districtor1.net with any questions you may have about our school.
