How many different kinds of penguins are there? What does a penguin do in a typical day? The third grade class discovered their answers to this and many more questions this past week. We have been studying all about penguins and their habitats. The students did research on many different kinds of penguins. They found out where they live, what they eat, and who takes care of them when they are young babies. Each student had to fill out an activity booklet on penguins. They also had to do various experiments that dealt with what a penguin has to go through each day. They enjoyed writing their spelling words in pretend snow, and finding out what the cold would feel like to a penguin without his or her feathers. So the next time you see your third grade child, ask them an interesting fact about penguins!
