Market Simulation - Conducting Business

Spanish I and III use what they know

by Rebecca Gill

Spanish I students recently traveled to Spain for a 50 minute class period (at least we pretended), as exchange students.  They purchased school supplies (using chapter vocabulary) and numbers to write a check, exchanging this for Euros, and bartering in the market place for the items needed on their shopping lists.  Students have all class period to but their supplies only using the Spanish language (no English).

Getting ready was no easy task.  Spanish III students practiced bartering in class with one another, but also completed a detailed Chapter on shopping and fashion to become store clerks.  They were incontrol of their store's inventory and cash flow, as well as their sales techniques.  What a blast.
