On Tuesday, April 27th first grade had a visitor from the Nemaha Natural Resources District to talk about trees and their benefits. Jane has been coming to first grade for several years to share wonderful seedlings with students to take home and plant. This year she brought Colorado Blue Spruce from a Dakota forest and included one for the students to plant here at Bennet Elementary.
As she talked with students she asked about the benefits of trees for us and our world. Students listed oxygen, beauty, prevention of soil erosion, windbreaks, animal homes, food and other products.
Next time you visit Bennet Elementary you can see the tree on the south side of the building just west of the teacher parking lot. We will watch it grow and add beauty to our school!
