A Preschool Hello!
My name is Jean Cheney and I began my career with a degree from what was then known as Kearney State College in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. I spent time in first, third, and fourth grades followed by 18 years in second grade before happily settling into the last five years teaching the Little Panthers Preschool for the district. All those years have given me a wide variety of experiences. I came to Bennet from Thedford in 1988 as a second grade teacher before taking on the challenge of helping start the new preschool five years ago. That preschool change has proven to be a rewarding, challenging and exciting career move, one I am very happy I had the opportunity to take when the district decided to start a new program.
My husband and I live on a farm southwest of Bennet, we raised our four children there. All our children are graduates of Palmyra High School. Our youngest son will graduate from UNL this December and then we will happily be able to say all our children are also college graduates! We have two wonderful daughter-in-laws which bring our "kid count" to six in our family. Our big news this last year was being able to say that we now have a delightful one year old grandson! Thankfully he lives in Bennet so we get plenty of Grandpa and Grandma time with him.
I look forward to meeting many of the new families that move into our district in the years ahead, and to working with those families I already know as their young children reach preschool age. Stop by and check out Little Panthers Preschool if you are in the neighborhood!
