The Morning Scarecrows

Scarecrows Take Over the Preschool

by Jean Cheney

November 13, 2009

Little painted noses, ripped jeans, straw hats, bandana scarves and assorted other "scarecrow props" filled our classroom with lots of excitement this week.

Books like The Scarecrow and the Falling Leaves and The Scarecrow's Hat together with a scarecrow puppet and song filled our group circle time.  We also practiced matching the numbers one through ten on a patchwork scarecrow.  The students each told a teacher the number name and then glued a number patch on the matching number already printed on the scarecrow's body.
