Lady Panthers get first round win at MUDECAS

A strong third quarter helped lead the Lady Panthers to a first round victory, Monday at MUDECAS, against the Sterling Lady Jets. The Panthers won the game 53-47. The game was back and forth the whole first half with Palmyra going into half time with a 2 point lead, 26-24. The Panthers would come out in the third quarter with aggressive defense and strong rebounding to outscore the Lady Jets 15-5. The fourth quarter was a fight for the Panthers but their strong defense was able to hold of the Jets to take the win.
Coach Dowding commented, “The girls really worked hard in the 2nd half and I was proud of the way they came out. Our post players really stepped up and had big games for us as well.”
Leading scorers for the Lady Panthers were Amanda Beckman contributing 15 hard earned points, Stacey Ockinga with 13, and Kerry Dawson with 12. Other scorers were Brittany Schroder with 5, Sam Masilko 4, and Holly Mach and Kelby Phillips each added 2 a piece.
The win moves the Lady Panthers into the next round where they will take on Diller-Odell on Thursday, January 14th with a 3:30 start time at the Beatrice Auditorium. Come out and cheer the Lady Panthers into the Championship game!
