A New Face at Bennet Elementary
Student teacher joins the second grade classroom of Mrs. Christensen and Pam Goodrich's special education classroom
Hello! My name is Nichole Schroder. I am very excited to be at Bennet Elementary as I complete my student teaching this winter/spring. Mrs. Christensen and Mrs. Goodrich have welcomed me into their classrooms and are graciously helping me transition into the full-time teacher role until the end of the school year. I will be with the second grade until the middle of March and then I will move into the special education classroom until the end of school.
In May, I will graduate from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education (K-6) and will also be certified to teach special education (K-6). I am very familiar with the District OR1 school district because I attended both the elementary in Bennet and the high school in Palmyra. Teaching at Bennet and returning to the area where I grew up is exciting and really means a lot to me. I am extremely fortunate to be able to learn from all of the quality teachers here at Bennet this winter and spring.
My family lives on a farm north of Palmyra. My dad farms about 1,000 acres and keeps busy with his hog operation and cattle herd, while my mom works at the Nebraska Department of Labor in Lincoln. I have one younger brother, Kyle, who is currently attending Southeast Community College in Lincoln and will graduate in March with a degree in Welding. I also have one younger sister, Brittany, who is a junior at the high school this year. She seems to keep pretty busy as she is involved in a number of activities and sports teams.
In July, I will be getting married. Needless to say, this will be one busy semester, as I will be planning a wedding in addition to teaching! My fiancé, Garrett, is from the Bennet area and graduated from Palmyra as well. Currently, he is attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and will graduate in May 2011 with a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife and a minor in Criminal Justice. After our wedding, we will be moving to a house in Bennet.
I am really excited to work with all the students and parents this winter/spring. Please do not ever hesitate to drop by and visit with me. I would love to get to know you better!
