Mrs. Karen Stoner
Since I live in the neighborhood most of you know a little bit about me. My husband Rick retired in June from BNSF and I plan to follow this May. I grew up 3 miles from Palmyra on a farm, but graduated from Waverly, however Rick graduated from Palmyra. I have 3 children who also graduated from here. All reside in Lincoln. Julana works for the Lincoln Journal Star, and her husband Kane for Dobson. Eric is a computer programmer for Ameritas, and his wife Sara is a nurse. Nicole is at Sally’s Beauty Supply. I have a darling but independent granddaughter named Savannah.
My original degree was in Physical Education and I taught and coached at Waverly High School for 6 years. I quit to raise my family, did daycare, and officiated a lot, and then started substituting. I was offered a job here in Special Education, so returned to graduate school at an older age. This was a challenge while being a fulltime teacher, raising a family, and coaching. I retired from coaching two years ago; volleyball had been a part of my life for many years. It will be hard to leave, but I hope to have time now to read, travel, garden, golf, see the grandkid, and many other activities.
