Lady Panthers Get First Round Win in Conference Tourney

The Lady Panthers were able to overcome an early deficit to get a first round win in the ECNC Conference Tournament on Tuesday, February 2nd. The #3 seeded Lady Panthers took on the #6 seeded Lady Indians from Weeping Water. Weeping Water jumped out in the first quarter and outscored Palmyra 11-8. After some changes at quarter, Palmyra was able to regroup and put together an impressive 23 points and hold Weeping Water to only 10 to go into halftime up 31-21. The Lady Panthers would continue to hold the lead at 10 at the end of the 3rd quarter, 43-33 but in the 4th quarter Palmyra pulled away to get the win 62-43.
Stacey Ockinga had a big night for the Panthers pouring in 22 points. Holly Mach and Kerry Dawson also saw double figures scoring 15 and 11 points. Ciera Dowding and Amanda Beckman each added 6 and Kelby Phillips had 2.
The win moves the Lady Panthers into the semifinals of the conference tournament where they will take on #2 seeded East Butler on Friday, February 5th. The game will be played at SECC in Lincoln with a scheduled start time of 8:00pm. Come out and support your Lady Panthers and cheer them into the conference championship game!
