100th Day of School

by Gera Stilwell

February 06, 2010

The 100th day of school was February 2.  My kindergarten students were asked to bring 100 things each for show and tell.  At home and again at school they were to lay them out in rows of 10.  Each child was given a chance to count aloud for the rest of the class.  Four children brought pennies.  The peanut M & M's also became a treat.  The shells were also given to classmates.  There were 50 larger rocks and 50 smaller rocks so that became another lesson.  One child showed that he knew how to also count by 10's.  Cereal and toys also were brought.  Pop tabs were a good idea for something small and light weight.

Congratulations to the children for doing a good job with this challenge!  Thank you to the families for making it possible.  Thank you to Mrs. Nitzsche for using the school's digital camera.
