Malone at UNL VIP workshop
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln Southeast Research and Extension Center hosted the fourth VIP Day for high school agriculture educators at the ARDC near Mead, NE on June 23, 2010. The program provided ag teachers, including local ag instructor/FFA advisor Ken Malone from Palmyra High School an opportunity to connect with University agricultural researchers and extension faculty, discuss the latest issues in agronomy, horticulture, and beef and get ideas and resources to use in the classroom.
UNL Extension recognizes the vital role that ag teachers have in educating tomorrow’s agricultural leaders and this experience provided them with additional resources helping them achieve this important task. Ten of the top agriculture education instructors from across Nebraska were able to take home cutting edge research from University of Nebraska Extension faculty, ideas and materials for lesson plans designed to prepare students for a successful career in agriculture. Participants and Extension faculty networked and explored new ideas for agriculture education.
