The Palmyra Land Judging Team of Logan Newell, Kyle Lovell, Trevor Cox and Kord Haight placed 4th at the Southeast Area Contest in Tecumseh, Oct. 5. This qualifies them as one of the 28 teams across the State to compete in the State Land Judging contest in Kearney, Oct. 26. Logan Newell placed 9th overall, and 18 of the 33 students participating placed high enough to receive ribbons.  Palmyra received 25% of the ribbons awarded to the top 45% of the participants.  There were 170 participants at the contest from schools covering the southeast area of Nebraska. Land judging involves students determining the texture of the soil, slope of the soil, erosion, how to use the land and what land practices to use.
