First Graders Go Wild
What if you woke up one morning with polar bear hair (it would keep you really warm on a cold winter day), an anaconda snake tongue (you would be able to smell even if you had a stuffy nose) and mountain goat hooves (you wouldn’t slip on the ice)? You would be totally wild!
First Grade finished reading unit one and it was all about animals. The unit started with tame animals like our pets and concluded with wild animals that you find at the zoo or you know – in the wild! Students were invited to create their wild self by going to buildyourwildself.com. The site allows students to select every aspect of their wild self from the tip of their head to the tip of their toes. The result? We have some really wild first graders so beware when you come for a visit.
Once the students created their wild self on the site a copy was printed off and students wrote about their wild self. These pictures and descriptions are on display at Bennet Elementary on the south windows if the library. Come check out our wild first graders!
