“Around the World” in Preschool
Recently, all three preschool classes participated in an “Around the World” unit study. Preschool students were given many opportunities to learn about other cultures through the group instruction, exploration, and play. The students learned about food from other cultures through books and play food that represented items from Japan, China, Mexico, and Italy. During a small group lesson, students were asked to use building blocks to create a representation of various structures from around the world such as The Colosseum, Great Wall of China, and Golden Gate Bridge. Preschool students were able to explore and experiment with instruments from other cultures. The preschool classrooms also included new dress up clothes that represent clothing from other countries. Mexico, Japan, China, Nigerian, India, and Ghana.
