Superintendent of Schools
Welcome to the Palmyra District OR-1 School district web site and the 2018-2019 school year. I am beginning my 33rd year in Education, having served as the Superintendent and K-12 Principal in Chambers from 2005-2010. Prior to that time I spent 19 years at Sutton as a Social Studies teacher and coach.
The current school year will be exciting as we resume a series of initiatives such as the completion of construction projects on both campuses and the 1:1 Chromebook initiative for grades 4-12, as well as adoption of a new five-year strategic plan. The district will maintain an emphasis on a well-designed character education initiative aimed at providing our students with specific information focusing on life skills including self-confidence/self-respect, respect for others/compassion, responsibility/no excuses, communication skills, perseverance/resilience, positive attitude, resourcefulness, and goal setting. With fourteen trained 8 To Great staff we are well on our way to continuing an outstanding advisory program with the lowest possible student/teacher ratio.
I am grateful for the opportunity to work with a Board of Education, Administrative Team and Staff that maintains a “Commitment to Excellence”. I encourage you to follow us on Twitter and via our District OR-1 mobile application.
Best wishes for a productive and rewarding year. GO PANTHERS!

My wife Jen is also an educator with a background in early childhood special education and elementary education. She has recently completed a Master program with a media endorsement from the University of Nebraska Kearney and a series of coursework aimed at the addition of a computer technology endorsement. We have three children who are currently in the workforce. Jon is a licensed respiratory therapist and resides in Lincoln. Our oldest daughter, Mallary, resides in Omaha with her husband and two of our grandchildren, Harper and Madden. Sean, our youngest son, resides and works in the metro area with his wife and two additional grandchildren, Aiden and Nora. All three of my oldest children have served in the Air Force Reserve or National Guard. We also have a 14-year-old daughter, Ryann, who will enter the 8th grade this fall. We are enjoying our time in District OR-1 and are extremely grateful for the opportunity to open new facilities this fall.
