Hi! I am Leslie McIntosh, the Kindergarten Aide and K-5 Second Step teacher. I just graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln last May, studying Elementary Education. Last spring, I student taught here at Bennet and I am really excited to be back!

In 2010, I married my husband, Ryan. We both grew up in Syracuse and now live in Lincoln with out nephew, Oliver. Ryan graduated from UNL and commissioned as an officer into the Nebraska Army National Guard in 2010. He just started his first year at UNL College of Law.

At the University, some activities I was involved in were Mortar Board, Dance Marathon, my sorority, and Heartland Big Brothers Big Sisters. In my free time I love playing the piano, softball, going on long walks with Oliver, and going to coffee shops to read.

As the K-5 Second Step teacher, I will be working with the students every other week and focusing on four categories to developing better social and emotional skills. They are skills for learning (focus attention, listening, use self talk, and assertiveness), empathy, emotion management, and problem solving. In order for this curriculum to be effective, I would ask that you sit down with your child and do the Home Links your child brings home after our lessons.

Feel free to stop by the counselor’s office to say hello! Thank you for supporting your child’s education.
