I’m David Bottrell. I’m the Palmyra Jr/Sr High School Principal. In August of 2016 I’ll be staring my 17th year here at Palmyra, my 24th year as a principal, and my 30th year in education. Much has changed in education during my time, and things are certainly continuing to change here at PHS! We have a bright future, and kids at PHS will certainly take advantage of the opportunities available!

I started college at Kearney State College. I transferred to Chadron State where I got my undergraduate degree in Business Education, Physical Education, and Coaching. I played basketball and ran track while in college. I got my first job at Waterloo High School where I taught and coached for 6 years. My third year at Waterloo I assumed the role of A.D. and continued to coach junior high and high school football, basketball, and track. During that time I worked on my Master’s Degree at the University of Nebraska – Omaha so I could someday become a principal. My first administrative position was at Fairmont, where I was the K-12 Principal. I worked there for 7 years. I continued to coach and was the A.D. at Fairmont too. I met my wife Abbie while at Fairmont. She is a R.N. with Bryan LGH in Lincoln. Our daughter, Jordyn, is a Wayne State College student studying to be an English teacher. She is also a proud graduate of the Palmyra Class of 2014!!  I spend my leisure time with my family and friends. And that time is generally spent doing anything that has to do with sports and cars and concerts!

I’m very proud of the students, teachers, and staff we have at Palmyra High School. As you explore our website you will see that we are doing great things here! I would welcome any opportunity to visit with you about anything PHS. Please contact me at  bottrell.dav@districtor1.net or 402-780-5327 with any questions you may have about our school.  Go Panthers!!!!
