First Grade Learns about Fire Safety

by Becky Hall and Yvonne Meyer
October 15, 2008

During Fire Prevention Week the first graders did several activities to reinforce what the fire fighters shared with us during their visit to Bennet Elementary.  We enjoyed some literature and a video about fire safety rules.  Students created a Fire Safety Book that talked about those rules.  We read the book together and sent it home for students to share  with their families.  The book is to be returned with a completed map of a fire exit plan for their home .  Other activities included making a fire engine and a fire hat.

Rules like "Get out and stay out" and Stop, Drop and Roll" were a few things that were in the Fire Safety Book.

Remember this years theme is PREVENT HOME FIRES.  Check your smoke detectors, cords and portable heaters to make sure they are working and safe.
