The morning preschool students with their third grade friends.
|
by Jean Cheney and Alison Winter
November 13, 2009
Ms. Winter's third grade students selected books they thought a preschool student would enjoy hearing read aloud, practiced those books and prepared to come visiting. Preschool students really did not know what to expect but it sounded exciting!
Seventeen third graders really fill up the preschool classroom, but after being assigned a partner and finding a place somewhere to settle in the sound of many reading voices filled the air. When books were finished the preschool students took their new third grade friends on a tour of their classroom and everyone had a few minutes to check things out.
With a fresh baked cookie and a big thank you the third graders went back to the elementary with promises to get together again and read more good books. Perhaps next time the preschool students will visit the third grade classroom and check out those big desks!
