Hello All!

My name is Carrie Wusk and this is my fifth year teaching at Bennet Elementary.  I will be teaching the third section of Kindergarten this year.  I am very excited to start back at the beginning again and teach with some wonderful teachers!

I grew up in Sterling, and attended college at UNL, graduating with a dual bachelor's in elementary education and special education.  I married my high school sweetheart (ahh!), Mark, and moved back to Sterling.  We have two beautiful daughters, Kaitlyn (16), who is a Sophomore, and Callene (12), who will be in 6th grade at Sterling Public Schools.  After I graduated from college, I wanted to stay home with my "future" children, so I started a home day-care/preschool.  Those fourteen years of day-care seemed to fly by and I realized my girls were in school, so now I could venture out and start my teaching career.

I substitute taught for a year and at the end of that year was hired as a long term sub in the Bennet Kindergarten rooms.  That spring I interviewed for the traveling teacher position here at Bennet and became the third section of 1st grade for the following year.  I got to teach with two wonderful teachers, Mrs. Dowding and Mrs. Hall.  Then I "moved on up" with those kiddos to 2nd grade and worked with two more wonderful teachers, Mrs. Christensen and Mrs. Schauer.  Last year I moved again, and I got the pleasure of teaching Kindergarten with Mrs. Dvorak and Mrs. Nitzsche! Last year, I got to repeat first grade and was super excited about not being a first year teacher!  This year I will be repeating Kindergarten and am totally looking forward to it!  I can't wait to see how the year unfolds.  My hope for the kiddos is that they leave Kindergarten with confidence and excitement for another year of school.

I am going to have a great time learning with your kiddos this year.
