Superintendent Update: TikTok Rumors

I just wanted all of you to know District OR-1 is aware of a new social media rumor encouraging students to make threats of violence to schools on Friday, December 17th. While the origin of the information is unknown, we understand that it has escalated into encouraging threats of violence via TikTok and other social media platforms. At this point, no threats have been identified locally or in Nebraska, and this is just an FYI.
Local law enforcement officials are also aware of this information and out of an abundance of caution, we will have an increased law enforcement presence tomorrow. As we have stated before, student safety is always our highest priority, and all students must understand that the behaviors encouraged by these challenges are not just wrong, but violate the law and our school Student Code of Conduct.
Any potential threat will immediately be investigated and have serious consequences if found to have any validity. District OR-1 does not condone or tolerate threats of any kind and will pursue disciplinary actions and legal consequences as appropriate.
