SUMMARY OF MARCH 13, 2023 REGULAR MEETING

 Special thanks to Mr. McChristian (5th grade teacher), Mrs. Sullivan (4th grade teacher), Mrs. Peska, Mrs. Dowding, and Mrs. Field (1st grade teachers), and Ms. Walter for their board presentation regarding social studies and science curriculum at the elementary level. This presentation gave our board members excellent insight into student learning.

 The board accepted the resignation and notice of retirement of Mr. Michael Chaffee (Palmyra High School Guidance Counselor). Thank you Mr. Chaffee for your 10 years of dedicated service to our students, our district, and our community. We wish Mr. Chaffee the best of luck with his retirement and future endeavors!

 The board accepted the resignation of Mrs. Karen Hatcher (Central Office Business Manager). Thank you Mrs. Hatcher for your 31 years of dedicated service to our students, our district, and our community. We wish Mrs. Hatcher the best of luck with her retirement and future endeavors!

 The board accepted the resignation of Mrs. Jessica Hinrichsen (Bennet Elementary Special Education Teacher). Thank you Mrs. Hinrichsen for your 8 years of dedicated service to our students, our district, and our community. We wish Mrs. Hinrichsen the best of luck with her future endeavors!

 The board approved the teaching contract of Ms. Rachel Bohling. Ms. Bohling will be teaching first grade next year at Bennet Elementary. Please welcome Ms. Bohling!

 The month of March is Music Awareness Month. Special thanks to our music instructors and students and our local businesses and community leaders who help support our Fine Arts programs and activities.

 Updated building expansion site plans for Bennet Elementary and Palmyra High School were reviewed at the meeting. An overview of the current expansion is currently posted on our school website at www.districtor1.org and district social media channels.

 The board heard updates on our district school improvement process, information regarding education-related legislative bills, student enrollment, staffing and facility updates, feedback from our recent Business Leader meeting on March 8th, the “Community Unity” project, option enrollment, and student and staff accomplishments.

 The board also approved the purchase of a 2017 (71 passenger) Blue Bird bus and the acceptance of bids for repairs to the gym doors in the high school auxiliary gym.
