Upcoming Speech Contest

    Sixteen talented students will be participating in the Class C1 NSAA District Speech Contest to be held on March 13th at Sandy Creek High School.  The students have been preparing and practicing their speeches since December and have so far competed in both the MUDECAS meet in Beatrice and the ECNC Conference meet at Elmwood-Murdock.  For the first time in several years, we have nearly a full schedule!  NSAA rules allow only two varsity participants per event.  As 3 of our students originally prepared informative speeches, one student even had to shift to fill in a spot we had empty!  (A good problem to have!)

     Surveys show that many people fear speaking in public more than they fear death.  These students should be congratulated, not only on their courage to tackle such a fear, but on their hard work and time that has gone into writing, preparing, and practicing these speeches to be presented to a group of their peers and judges.  We have every reason to be proud as these students represent PHS at an NSAA event!
