District OR1 Will Have NO School on 1/20/2026

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Charles Kohl, second grade student at Bennet Elementary. Our hearts are with the student’s family, friends, classmates, and staff during this incredibly difficult time.
The well-being of our students, families, and staff is our utmost priority as we navigate this tragic loss together. In order to allow time for our school community to grieve, support one another, and access needed resources, there will be no school at District OR-1 Schools on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
Our district crisis response team will be available tomorrow, January 20, 2026, from 12:00–3:00 p.m. at Bennet Elementary School for all students and families of District OR-1. This is a time for those in need who may wish to speak with someone. Professional school counselors and school psychologists from our district and neighboring districts will be present to provide support.
If your family is unable to attend during this crisis response time, please know that counseling supports will continue to be available at school when classes resume and until further notice.
