Audrea Severe Wins Nebraska Young Artist Award
Palmyra Junior, Audrea Severe, was among the winners of the 13th annual Nebraska Young Artist awards. She was selected in the area of visual art for her submission of her pencil drawing of an American flag. Severe was among 78 students from about 45 Nebraska high schools to participate in a special day of on-campus activities. She and other honored students toured the UNL art facilities, attended classes, and met faculty and honor students. The day concluded with an awards ceremony in the Sheldon Museum of Art auditorium. Audrea received a certificate and an original piece of artwork specially commissioned for the event. The Nebraska Young Artists Awards recognize juniors who are gifted and talented in visual art, dance, music, and theater. There were 160 students who applied and submitted examples of their work. The applications were reviewed by faculty of the UNL Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts.
