Superintendent Update: 9/17/2025

Hello Again Panther Families,

I would like to follow up on my message regarding a safety threat at our high school last week.

At the time of the message on Friday afternoon, we determined there was no credible threat. Since the message went out, we were able to gather additional information through continued discussions with students, parents, and staff members, and through that process, we were able to verify that threatening statements were made by a student in our high school.

At this time, all parties involved in the situation have been contacted, school consequences were administered to the student for their inappropriate actions, law enforcement was contacted, and the threat was addressed in a professional, safe, and prompt manner.

Utilizing secure entrances, keeping our doors locked throughout the day, providing active supervision for events and common areas, communicating concerns, following visitor protocols, practicing safety drills, and having high expectations for behavior are all important pieces to establishing a safe and secure learning environment, but the most critical component is the relationships we have with each other, our students, and our community.

Please continue to encourage your children to immediately report anything that makes them feel unsafe to a trusted adult. We will always follow up on all threats purposefully and immediately.

As I have said before, student safety is always our top priority, and we have established policies and procedures in place to proactively identify and address potential and real safety concerns.

As an additional note, special thanks to all of our students and families for continuing to share information and concerns about this situation. Please also understand that we value your information and appreciate your support and patience.

If any further relevant information becomes available, we will share it with you as soon as possible.

Have a great rest of your day and Go Panthers!

Mike
