A little bit about me!

Hello, my name is Lisa Dowding and I am one of the first grade teachers here at Bennet Elementary.  This is my 8th year teaching 1st grade, but my 14th year at Bennet.  Before moving to 1st grade I was the resource teacher for grades 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Bennet Elementary has always been home to me, as I grew up right outside of Bennet and attended elementary school here from kindergarten through 6th grade and then went on to Palmyra.  I graduated from Palmyra High School in 2001.  After graduation, I attended Doane College in Crete, Nebraska and majored in Elementary Education and Special Education and graduated in May of 2005.  Then in May of 2007 I graduated with my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

Family is very important to me and a reason why I choose to come back to Bennet.  My parents live right outside of Bennet. I have a younger sister and brother. Both my brother and sister also graduated from Palmyra High School and continued their education at Doane College.  My sister is a 3rd grade teacher at Roper Elementary in Lincoln. She got married in the spring of 2015 and welcomed their first child, my adorable nephew, Noah in December of 2015.  My brother graduated from Doane College is May with a degree in Business.  He is married to his wife Shelby and they are expecting their first baby this October.

I am married to a wonderful man, Nate Dowding, who is also a Palmyra graduate. In April of 2009, we had our first child, a daughter named Hailey.  Hailey is a child that is full of life and loves learning and doing new things.  She is a beautiful dancer and loves to use her imagination to create songs and dances for us all time.  After having Hailey we realized how important it was for us to have her grow up in a close knit community like Bennet so in November of 2010 we built a house right outside of Bennet and in May of 2011 we moved back to our home town.  In May of 2016, after school dismissed, we expanded our family by 2 when we welcomed our twin girls, Tinley and Piper.  Our three girls keep our lives crazy, busy and we wouldn't have it any other way!
