NeSA-R State Reading Results

OR-1 Students Perform Well in Inaugural Assessment

District OR-1 NeSA-R Test Results

NeSA (Nebraska State Accountability) is the new statewide reading test administered to all students in grades 3-8 and 11 during the spring of 2010.  The multiple choice test consists of 55-60 test items focusing on vocabulary and comprehension with scores reported at both the State and Federal levels.

District OR-1 Students exceeded the State average scores in NeSA (Nebraska State Accountability) statewide reading test as indicated by results recently published by the Nebraska Department of Education.  Each grade’s “Performance Level” tells if a specific grade level is below the standards, meets the standards, or exceeds the standards.  The “Highest Possible Scale Score” tells the total possible points that a child could achieve.  It is usually 200.

The “State Average Scale Score” is the average for all students at this grade level across the state of Nebraska.

Individual student scores and a detailed parent letter will be mailed home within the next week.

The test results indicate that our current reading initiatives including a curriculum that maintains rigorous instructional standards supported by lesson planning and high teacher expectations in each classroom continues to produce positive results related to reading comprehension, fluency and vocabulary skills.

The scores indicate we are on target in addressing student needs related to reading instruction and we are excited to continue building on that success.

District OR-1 is aware that NeSA is just one indicator of reading skills. We will continue to use other methods throughout the school year to assess and monitor individual student progress in reading.

In the coming week we will be distributing reports for the entire district and your individual student or students.  We hope you find this report informative.  If you have questions, please contact any teacher or administrator.  More information can be found on the Nebraska Department of Education website at www.education.ne.gov

Thank you for partnering with us in your child’s education.

Sincerely,

District OR-1 Administrative Team and Instructional Staff
